How long does a commission take?

It depends on the length and complexity of the job. Also, add-on costs for framing. Please contact me for an estimate. As a general rule though:

  • Pencil drawings: 1-2 days
  • Acrylic or watercolour paintings: 1-3 weeks
  • Oil paintings: 2-4 weeks (due to the necessity for the paint to dry before mailing).

How much does a commission cost?

Prices for commissions are dictated by the time it takes to complete a piece of work, as well as add on costs for material and framing (if requested). Please contact me for an estimate. As a general guide though:

  • Pencil drawings: from £80
  • Oil/acrylic/watercolour paintings: from £200

Do you need to put down a deposit?

No. However if the work is unusually large and detailed, i.e. it would take many hours and use of expensive resources to complete, I would request a deposit for my own 'piece of mind'. I will contact the client if this is the case, prior to starting the work.

What if I change my mind and wish to cancel?

For commissions, full refunds will be given if the client finds the work unsatisfactory. The work can also be adjusted to take into account the clients wishes after receiving their art work. If no contact has been made within 14 days from the delivery date, it will be assumed that the client is happy with the work and no refund will be given. Any returned and refunded work becomes the property of the artist: Mandy Briars.

For orders of originals or prints, customers (in accordance with the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000) have the right to a 7 day cooling off period, (which begins when they receive their goods) in which to cancel their order. If this is the case goods should be re-packaged and sent via an appropriate tracked and signed for courier/mail service at the cost to the customer.
